Liposuction

Liposuction is also known as lipectomy or lipoplasty.

Liposuction involves using a suction technique to remove fat from specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms or neck. Liposuction also shapes (contours) these areas.

You are a good candidate for liposuction if you have already reached your goal weight but you may have some stubborn areas of body fat in specific parts of your body. Liposuction permanently removes fat cells, altering the shape of the body. Liposuction can also be performed with other procedures such as Abdominoplasty / Upper and Lower body lifts and breast reductions. Unfortunately Liposuction doesn’t improve cellulite dimpling or other skin surface irregularities. Likewise, liposuction doesn’t remove stretch marks.

Liposuction surgery is performed at Lingard Private Hospital or Warners Bay Private Hospital. Depending on the extent of surgery required, you will only be in hospital for a day only.

Liposuction is generally considered a cosmetic procedure and there is no Medicare or health fund rebate.
