Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation, is also known as augmentation mammoplasty.

The procedure involves implants being inserted beneath your breasts to enlarge them. The implant type and size depends on factors such as how much bigger you want your breasts to be, your breast anatomy, skin thickness and elasticity, and body type. Dr Miteff will recommend an implant shape and size that will help achieve the cosmetic look you desire.

You may be a good candidate for breast augmentation if :

  • You want larger, fuller breasts
  • You want to enhance your cleavage
  • Congenital breast asymmetry ie tuberous breast
  • You want to restore volume to your breasts after weight loss or pregnancy/breastfeeding
  • You want to improve symmetry
  • You want your breasts to be proportion with your body

Implants are generally either saline (sterile saltwater) or cohesive silicone gel, in a round or anatomical (teardrop) shape. During your consultation you will be able to touch and feel the implants and trial them for sizing and shape.

Breast Augmentation is performed at Lingard Private Hospital or Warners Bay Private Hospital. A day stay is usually only required – you can expect to be in hospital for 4-6 hours.

A cosmetic augmentation does not have a Medicare rebate however breast asymmetry has a Medicare rebate. Please check with your health care fund if you are covered for this procedure.

The safety of breast implants is an issue of concern for women and the safety of our patients remains our number one priority.
