Facial Implants: Chin / Cheek

Facial implant surgery is designed to adress a deficency in underlying bone anatomy. The most common areas are the chin and cheek region.

Chin surgery is also known as mentoplasty/genioplasty. Cheek – can be defined as infra-orbital or malar region.

The procedure is designed to reshape the chin/cheek using an implant. It can help achieve a balance to facial features. **The implant used is generally made of Polyethylene**. Although chin /cheek implants are commonly used for cosmetic purposes, they can be very effective in facial reconstruction. A chin implant can also be combined with a rhinoplasty (add link to page) to help achieve better facial proportions.

You may be a good candidate for a chin implant if:

  • You feel your chin is too small
  • You have a weak or receding chin
  • You have experienced facial trauma

You maybe a good candidate for cheek implant if:

  • hollowed facial appearance
  • negative orbital vector – leading to ectropion
  • previous facial trauma

Chin and cheek implant surgery is performed at Lingard Private Hospital or Warners Bay Private Hospital. You will stay overnight and will be discharged the following morning.
